The outstanding individual performer was Andreas Möller, who scored 16 Bundesliga goals in 32 appearances. Uwe Bein contributed eight league goals from midfield, while the young Anthony Yeboah also scored eight in 26 appearances during his first season with Frankfurt.
The squad also featured long-serving defender Karl-Heinz Körbel, who made 33 league appearances in what proved to be his final season as a professional. Manfred Binz played every Bundesliga match, while Stefan Studer appeared 33 times and Dietmar Roth 30.
This season was also the foundation for the outstanding Frankfurt side that followed. Many of the same players remained together for 1991/92, when Frankfurt mounted a famous Bundesliga title challenge and finished third, with Yeboah, Bein and Möller becoming central figures.

YEBOAH 9 The most iconic long-term Frankfurt choice. This was Anthony Yeboah’s first season at the club, and No.9 is documented for him during the campaign. Karl-Heinz Körbel was completing his final season after spending his entire senior career with Frankfurt and remains one of the defining figures in the club’s history. BINZ 5 A highly representative defensive choice. Manfred Binz played all 34 Bundesliga matches and scored four goals during the campaign; period match-worn evidence confirms No.5. FALKENMAYER 6 A strong midfield option from this Frankfurt generation. Ralf Falkenmayer was an experienced member of the side and a regular during the early 1990s. STUDER 11 Stefan Studer was one of Frankfurt’s most frequently used players in 1990/91, appearing in 33 Bundesliga matches and scoring three goals. KRUSE 9 A more unusual second-half-of-the-season option. Axel Kruse arrived in January 1991 and contributed three league goals, although No.9 should only be used when recreating a match in which that numbering is verified. Numbering from this period predates the modern permanent Bundesliga squad-number system, so some players could appear with different match numbers. Möller was Frankfurt’s outstanding goalscorer with 16 Bundesliga goals in 32 appearances, an exceptional return for an attacking midfielder. He comfortably outscored both Bein and Yeboah, who finished with eight league goals each.
However, there is an important distinction for collectors: early-1990s German numbering was still primarily line-up based, so Möller should not be treated as permanently assigned No.7 throughout the season. By contrast, BEIN 10 is directly documented for Frankfurt in 1990/91, while DFB records specifically identify YEBOAH 9.
For that reason, YEBOAH 9 is arguably the best choice for recognisability, BEIN 10 for a historically secure classic playmaker combination, and MÖLLER 7 for representing the season’s standout performer.
