The Lazio 2000–01 Anniversary Jersey represents one of the most celebrated periods in the history of the Rome-based club. Created to commemorate Lazio's centenary, the distinctive white shirt combines a special 1900–2000 anniversary crest with the championship insignia earned during the club's extraordinary 1999–2000 campaign.

Founded on 9 January 1900, Lazio celebrated its 100th anniversary during a remarkable period of sporting success. Under Sven-Göran Eriksson, the club had won the Serie A title and Coppa Italia in 1999–2000, completing a historic domestic double.

The anniversary shirt was retained into the first half of the 2000–01 season, carrying the prestigious Scudetto shield and Coppa Italia winners' cockade.

    2000–01 Serie A — Third Place

Lazio entered the 2000–01 season as defending Italian champions, with one of the strongest squads in European football.

The club strengthened its attack by signing Argentine striker Hernán Crespo from Parma and fellow Argentine international Claudio López from Valencia.

Despite considerable expectations, Lazio experienced an inconsistent first half of the season. Manager Sven-Göran Eriksson departed in January 2001, with former Italy national team coach Dino Zoff taking charge.

Under Zoff, Lazio improved its performances and remained competitive near the top of the table.

The team eventually finished third in Serie A with 69 points, recording 21 victories, six draws and seven defeats.

Although Lazio was unable to retain the championship, the third-place finish secured another opportunity to compete in the UEFA Champions League.

Hernán Crespo — Serie A Golden Boot

One of the outstanding individual achievements of the campaign came from Hernán Crespo.

The Argentine international scored 26 Serie A goals, finishing as the competition's leading goalscorer in his first season with Lazio.

Crespo's movement, aerial ability and clinical finishing made him one of Europe's most dangerous strikers.

His performances helped Lazio maintain its position among Italy's leading clubs despite the pressure of defending the championship.

The attacking squad also featured Chilean international Marcelo Salas, Argentine forward Claudio López and Italian striker Simone Inzaghi.

    Supercoppa Italiana — Champions

Lazio began the season by winning the 2000 Supercoppa Italiana, defeating Inter Milan 4–3 at the Stadio Olimpico on 8 September 2000.

The dramatic encounter featured goals from Claudio López, Dejan Stanković and Siniša Mihajlović, with López scoring twice.

The victory added another trophy to Lazio's remarkable collection of honours during the turn of the millennium.

It also reinforced the significance of the anniversary shirt as a symbol of the club's most successful modern era.

UEFA Champions League — Second Group Stage

Lazio competed in the 2000–01 UEFA Champions League following its historic Serie A title victory.

The club successfully progressed through the first group stage, finishing ahead of Arsenal in Group B.

However, the second group stage proved more challenging.

Drawn alongside Real Madrid, Leeds United and Anderlecht, Lazio finished fourth and was eliminated before the quarter-finals.

Despite the disappointment, the campaign provided further European experience for a squad featuring several internationally renowned players.

The Centenary Shirt — A Celebration of Lazio's Golden Era

The 2000–01 anniversary shirt is particularly significant because it combines three important elements of Lazio's history.

The special 1900–2000 centenary crest celebrates the club's first century, while the Scudetto shield and Coppa Italia cockade commemorate the historic domestic double achieved in 1999–2000.

The predominantly white design, sky-blue shoulder panels and yellow detailing distinguish it from Lazio's traditional home shirts.

The anniversary design remained in use until January 2001, when Lazio introduced a new sky-blue shirt for the remainder of the season.

As a result, the Lazio 2000–01 Anniversary Jersey represents a distinctive moment when the club's centenary celebrations coincided with one of its greatest periods of sporting achievement.
